This exhibition explores the concept of cultural regression. At present the global narrative is shifting towards more conservative ideologies and a reclamation of modesty in popular culture as reflected in film, music and art.
We’re intrigued by how societies are re-adopting non-technological forms of building communities caused by option paralysis and audience fatigue.
The art industry will soon be forced to adopt new forms of engaging audiences and capturing the attention of collectors with niche experiences as the industry becomes oversaturated with galleries and newer artists. As creators, how do we unlearn behaviours influenced by fast-paced work and social environments, political and economic uncertainties and integrate slow culture and nostalgic consumption into our daily and artistic practices?
WORLDART is one of the top contemporary art galleries in Cape Town.
Established in 2004, this gallery has since managed to show and develop a number of South Africa’s now household names in contemporary art and continues to introduce new artists with a bright future.
Our objective is to build an international platform from which their work can be introduced to a wider audience. To this extent we have in recent years participated in art fairs in London, Miami, Munich, Sydney, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
