About Anelisa Mangcu: Anelisa Mangcu is a Cape Town–based gallerist and curator. She holds an Honours degree in Curatorship from the University of Cape Town.

In 2020, she founded Under the Aegis, a curatorial and advisory practice that produces exhibitions and works with artists, collectors, and institutions across Africa and its diaspora. In 2024, she expanded the initiative by opening a physical space in Cape Town. Mangcu has curated more than 50 exhibitions, including her debut institutional show at the Norval Foundation, as well as presentations at leading international fairs such as the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, 1–54 New York, Expo Chicago, FNB Art Joburg, and RMB Latitudes. Her practice centres intersectional African identities and seeks to broaden established art historical narratives.
